A Pastel Easter

Happy Easter Sunday Everybunny!! (hee hee, I did it again! I apologise.)

My family and I aren't religious so Easter is more about the family getting together :). Today we're all crammed into the lounge, watching 'The Boat Race' (WOOOO Oxford!!!) and eating chocolate. It's gooood!

For me, Easter colours are all about nice, clean pastels and browns (chocolate, duh!) so that's what I've done!!

I love love love this colour combo!! I'm really pleased at how well the pastels showed up against the darker background, especially the yellow. The brown base is Barry M 'Cappucino' which is such a lovely colour! Definitely one of my favourite browns! Using a dotting tool, I then applied the following pastel polishes in random diagonal lines: Barry M 'Berry Ice Cream', Barry M 'Mint Green', 17 'Sherbet Lemon', Revlon 'Blue Lagoon' and finally China Glaze 'Pink-ie Promise'.

On my right hand, I went with the same colours…

The Beauty That Is Striping Tape

Helloooooooo!!

It's nearly Easter, which means . . . chocolate eggs!! I've got an Easter-ish manicure for you coming up at the weekend :)

For now, let me introduce you to my love affair with striping tape. I LOVE the stuff. Can't get enough of it!! There are soooo many different ways to use it and once you get the hang of it, it's super quick to do. Eggcellent (ha! I'm sorry, couldn't resist).

I started off with simple stuff but then my brain totally went crazy with a tonne of ideas and things got serious. It's amazing how much intricacy you can achieve with this stuff. I think it might have magical properties.

For the base I used Essie 'Blanc', after which I added a coat of Essie 'Out The Door' topcoat. This stops the tape from pulling up the base colour and provides a flat, clean surface for the tape to stick to. Using a quick drying topcoat also speeds the process up, woop!! After placing the tape in the pattern I wanted, I then painted a…

Sun-kissed Aztec

Hello Nail Art Lovers!!

Apparently, this is what Spring looks like in 2013....

Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you, that is snow burying my poor daffodils :(.
Snow in MARCH. Say What??? Is anyone else having wacky weather?

Anyway, let's move on to the nail art!!

Recently, I've been playing around with ways of creating interesting manicures while only using the nail polish brush. Here's one of the ideas I came up with!

The technique is very similar to the Nailside's cloud/ruffle manicures, just in a different arrangement. So simple and yet it produces a whole new look! It kind of reminds me of an Aztec pattern, love it!

Using the nail polish brush (with the excess wiped off), just paint one line from about halfway down your nail, to the free edge. Then add two shorter (I went for half of the middle line) strips, one either side of the first. And that's it!! You can go for as many layers and colour combinations as you want!! I'm excited to see what sort of look …

A Poppy Attempt. . . .

Hellooo People!!

Just a quick post as I'm poorly with a cold :(

Anywho, here's a simple floral manicure for you!
I first saw these on http://onenailtorulethemall.blogspot.co.uk/ and thought they were so cool!! Such a simple design but really eye-catching! I changed mine up a bit by placing them randomly and adding some dots for a bit more detail.

I absolutely LOVE white and red together, they make a mani look so clean and fresh! I had planned to make these look like poppies but they didn't quite come off the way I wanted. Maybe the petals need to be bigger?? I still like them as simple florals anyway :)

The nail polishes I used are Essie 'blanc', Barry M 'bright red' and a Sparkly Nails striper in 'black glitter'.

Thanks for reading and hope you all have a great weekend!!

Frosty Clouds

Hey guys!!

It's absolutely freezing here in Britain but it's a good excuse to put the fire on! Apparently we're in a 'BIG FREEZE' as if it's the end of the world!! That's pretty much how the UK reacts to any odd weather :) !!!

Anywho! I thought to go with the cold weather, I would do some suitably chilly nail art! So I hunted down all (well most...I have a rather large obsession with blue polish) of my blue nail polish and then sat and stared at it for a while. I seem to do this an awful LOT!! Ha ha!

But then I remebered these amazing mani's that I'd seen on nailside.com, in particular her cloud/ ruffle technique. I changed it up a bit by using a dotting tool instead of the polish brush in order to get more of a scalloped edge.

I didn't really have an exact image im my head so I pretty much layered on the blue polishes in random orders!! I used a large dotting tool to get a diagonal row of dots and then used the polish brush to bring the polis…

My First Post!!!

Hello Everyone!!

I've never done this before but I've been admiring other blogs for a while now and thought I should give it a go! I've been practising nail art for a while now but still got plenty to learn :).

I love the colour of this one so much!! In different lights it can appear purple or pink. And the glitter is soooooo gorgeous and absolutely packed with glitter goodness!

I didn't want to cover too much of the colour on this one so I went for a simple design. The base is Kleancolor in 'Neon Amethyst' and then to add interest, I used the square glitters from Barry M 'Lavender Glitter' to make lines down the centre of each nail (except my ring finger). They still looked kinda plain so I added Franken Frosting 'Who's that girl?' to my ring finger and on one half of my thumb. And then, because there obviously wasn't enough sparkly goodness, I also added 3 purple rhinestones to the accent finger!! I topped the whole thing off with Sech…
